Newbury Landscaping — Landscape Gardeners in Newbury
Garden design, patios, planting and full landscaping across West Berkshire. Free surveys, fixed written quotes, tidy workmanship.
Newbury Landscaping is a design-led landscape gardening service for Newbury and the surrounding West Berkshire villages. Garden design, patios and paving, gravel driveways, lawns and turfing, fencing and full garden renovations — planned properly on paper first, then built to last on chalk ground that we know well.
We start with a drawing, not a digger: a measured design visit first, then the plan and the written price, then the build — so you know exactly what you're getting before a slab is lifted.
What we design and build
Every garden gets the same treatment — behind a Victorian villa off Newbury town centre, on a new-build estate at Sandleford, or a paddock-edged plot towards Lambourn.

Garden Design
Measured surveys, scaled plans and planting schemes — the drawing that makes the rest of the job go right.

Patios & Paving
Porcelain, natural stone and block paving with steps and levels handled properly on sloping plots.

Gravel Driveways
Cotswold and Breedon gravel drives with real edging, gates and a base that stays put.

Lawns & Turf
New lawns from turf or seed on a properly prepared rootzone, not turf over builder's rubble.

Fencing & Gates
Closeboard boundaries, post-and-rail paddock runs and oak gates hung to swing for decades.

Full Garden Renovations
Complete transformations, designed once and built in sensible phases.
Design first, build second
Most landscaping goes wrong at the pricing stage — quoted off a five-minute walk round the garden. We do it the other way round.
1. Design visit
We walk the garden with you, measure it, check levels, soil and access, and listen to how you'll use the space.
2. The plan
A scaled layout of paving, levels, planting and boundaries — decisions get made on paper, where changes cost nothing.
3. Fixed price in writing
The plan is priced line by line and put in writing. What we write is what you pay.
4. The build
One team takes the plan through groundworks, hard landscaping and planting to a swept, finished garden.
West Berkshire gardens are their own thing
Gardens here sit on chalk downland — free-draining, alkaline soil that lavender loves and rhododendrons hate — and plots slope more than people expect, which is why steps and retaining walls feature so heavily in our work. The mix of properties is wide too: walled gardens behind the Victorian villas near the town centre and the Kennet & Avon canal, family gardens on the newer Sandleford estates, and big rural plots out through Chieveley, Kintbury and the racehorse country around Lambourn. We design for the ground in front of us, not a catalogue garden.
